well, seeing how i always tell other people not to abandon their blogs, i suppose it's time for a new post from me. not much to post about, but i'll do my best.

yesterday was Deborah's baptism, so we had company over after the evening service. Brian and his parents, Aimee and Hunter , Oma and Pake, Rev. Van Dyken, Grandma and Grandpa, Josh and Becky, and Dave. There was lots of cake. I think Phil had like three pieces!

Tuesdays, me and Aimee work together at the Burlinton Bargains Galore. Fun!

My room is clean for the first time in a month- Like, really clean. ...it feels weird...not like my room.

Except for the pile of clean socks i need to match.

I think everyone should read the Winnie the Pooh books. The old ones.

I'm sad because last year and the year before i was in Disneyland about this time. And I'm not this year. so I'm sad.

I'm really happy and excited because I'm going out tonight on a double date- me and Brian, and Josh and Becky. dinner and a movie. Lucky!

Too bad for all of you you can't hold my baby sister. she's a sweetheart.

last night, i went pigeon-catching with Brian and a couple other guys. the pigeons were kind of scary...they were making creepy noises.

i am now floor manager at my work. Lucky!

my Mom is due in like 11 days! it's supposed to be a girl, and i'm so excited!

i bought a new dress and some really cute new shoes. couldn't have done it without amiee and britt's help, thanks girls!

Well, you see, my bed is covered with all of the stuff belonging to the lower half of my room- "just in case." The river is pretty high right now, but supposedly they're pretty sure it's not going to go over. (don't ask me who "they" are, all I know is whoever I ask about the river, it's always "they say this", or "they said that.")....all I'm hoping is that "they" know what they're talking about. So, anyway, tonight I guess I will be sleeping on my bedroom floor ( "but if you just moved your stuff off the floor, why would you sleep there?!"...good question...) Or I suppose I could sleep in Britt's queen size bed with her, but I don't think I will. BTW, if you guys want to see some pics of the river, go to Cassi's blog.( if you haven't already, that is)

I am loving this eggnog time of year!

Work is crazy because we put out Christmas stuff. Sadly, I will probably be sick of Christmas by the time it actually arrives. And we haven't even had Thanksgiving yet. ...oy vey...

For those of you who don't know, my Mom is expecting a baby, due Valentine's Day! I'm SO excited :)

I am very excited for the end of this month because my three best friends' birthdays are then. Aimee-November 24 (she'll be 19), Brian- November 27 (he'll be 19 also), and Brittany-November 30 (she'll be 18)

Yesterday at work, I working at the cash register..... and I made a mistake. I was supposed to type in 2 @ 2.99 shoes, but somehow instead, I typed in 8,000 something, so the total came up as $9,666.43. Or something like that. So we (Aimee and I) were like,"how are we gonna fix this?" Luckily, we have two registers, so I rung up the purchase (correctly this time) on the other one, while Aimee started refunding the $9,666.43. Oh, and our register only lets you refund $50.00 at a time (it's, like, a safety or something) So yeah, it took her like 7 minutes straight to do that. Also, every button that she had to push BEEPS. For 7 minutes straight. It was like a song. A terribly annoying one. I'm pretty sure the customers thought so too. (oops) But once she got the button pattern, her fingers were flying. And then she made some mistakes. But not $9,666.43. Nope, I hold that record. The receipt for that refunding thing was, like, at least two feet long. And when she was FINALLY done, Aimee looked at me and said, " wow, Kayla, thanks. Thanks for the laugh." And then we both started laughing. Again.And all the customers thought we were crazy. For the eighth time.

Last night I watched Pirates 2. I thought it was great, except for the evil sea-animal crew of Davy Jones. That element kind of reminded me of the orcs in LOTR, I didn't really like those things. But other than that, Captain Jack and Will were lookin' pretty good : ) (don't you think so, girls? ) And I definately must see Pirates 3, so I'd say it's a pretty good movie. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it an 8 1/2.

So...today is my birthday. It seems strange that I have now begun my last year as a teenager. I suppose I could write a report of the past year, but I will just say that I almost wish I was turning 18 again. Like, I wish you got to be 18 twice. Oh well, 19 sounds pretty exciting too. :) And I just wanted to say: Thank-you all for being my friends. I was reading my graduation cards and the birthday cards I already got, and it made me feel really special and loved. At least, if what people write in those things is true. ;) By the way, the cake above is not my actual birthday cake, just one that is very similar. (The real one is like ten times more fabulous)

Stupid people should have to wear signs that just say, "I'm Stupid." That way you wouldn't rely on them, would you? You wouldn't ask them anything. It would be like, "Excuse me...oops...never mind, didn't see your sign."

It's like before my wife and I moved. Our house was full of boxes and there was a U-Haul truck in our driveway. My neighbor comes over and says, "Hey, you moving?" "Nope. We just pack our stuff up once or twice a week to see how many boxes it takes. Here's your sign."

A couple of months ago I went fishing with a buddy of mine, we pulled his boat into the dock, I lifted up this big ol' stringer of bass and this idiot on the dock goes, "Hey, y'all catch all them fish?" "Nope. Talked 'em into giving up. Here's your sign."

I was watching one of those animal shows on the Discovery Channel. There was a guy inventing a shark bite suit. And there's only one way to test it. "All right, Jimmy, you got that shark suit on, it looks good... They want you to jump into this pool of sharks, and you tell us if it hurts when they bite you." "Well, all right, but hold my sign. I don't wanna lose it."

Last time I had a flat tire, I pulled my truck into one of those side-of-the-road gas stations. The attendant walks out, looks at my truck, looks at me, and says, "Tire go flat?" I couldn't resist. I said, "Nope. I was driving around and those other three just swelled right up on me. Here's your sign."

We were trying to sell our car about a year ago. A guy came over to the house and drove the car around for about 45 minutes. We get back to the house, he gets out of the car, reaches down and grabs the exhaust pipe, then says, "#$%*, that's hot!" See, if he'd been wearing his sign, I could have stopped him.

I learned to drive an 18-wheeler in my days of adventure. Wouldn't you know, I misjudged the height of a bridge. The truck got stuck and I couldn't get it out, no matter how I tried. I radioed in for help and eventually a local cop shows up to take the report. He went through his basic questioning ... okay...no problem. I thought for sure he was clear of needing a sign...until he asked, "So, is your truck stuck?" Couldn't help myself! I looked at him, looked back at the rig and then back to him and said, "No, I'm delivering a bridge ... here's your sign."

I stayed late at work one night and a co-worker looked at me and said, "Are you still here?" I replied, "No. I left about 10 minutes ago. Here's your sign."

i think it is very pretty, and i also love the smell.
i actually have a lavender spray that i spray on my pillows at night. its very calming.

History of Lavender
The ancient Greeks called the lavender herb nardus, after the Syrian city of Naarda. It was also commonly called nard.
During Roman times, flowers were sold for 100 denarii per pound, which was about the same as months wage for a farm labourer or 50 haircuts from the local barber. Lavender was commonly used in Roman baths to scent the water, and it was thought to restore the skin. When the Roman Empire conquered southern Britain, the Romans introduced lavender.
During the height of the Plague, glove makers at Grasse would scent their leathers with lavender oil, and this was claimed to ward off the Plague. This story could have some validity as the Plague was transmitted by fleas, which lavender is known to repel.

Holiday in Australia

A Texan farmer goes to Australia for a holiday. There he meets an Aussie farmer and begins talking. The Aussie shows off his big wheat field and the Texan says, "Oh! This is the Hollywood Tower of Terror. On this ride, you sit an "elevator", and it's almost pitch black inside and then it goes up really fast and then you look out over the park from those really high windows for about two seconds, and then it drops very, very fast! And then it goes up and down a few more times and you like fly out of your seat. It's crazy. Brittany doesn't really like that one. She was almost crying into my shoulder the second time we went on it.

These are mistakes in Pirates of the Caribbean. Look for them next time you watch it.

Just as Jack says, "On deck, you scabrous dogs," to the very left edge of the screen over Jack's shoulder is a grip crew member with a tan cowboy hat, white short sleeve tee shirt and sunglasses, just standing there looking out to sea.

When Jack holds the chain to Elizabeth's neck, and subsequently swings about, there are about ten links between the wrist shackles. When he tosses the links over the rope, before he slides down, there are at least fifteen attached links. Then at the blacksmith shop, when Jack sits at the anvil, there are eight links, and after he breaks it there are three links dangling from the right shackle and seven dangling from the left, totaling ten.

In the scene where Will delivers the sword to Governor Swann, watch the clock on the wall. When Will is waiting, the time is 09:45am. When Gov. Swann enters the room, the time is 09:40am.

When Jack sails toward Port Royal, he passes the skeletal remains of hanged pirates, to whom he pays a respectful bow. First, there are two wideshots of the skeletons, then in the close-up they are actually wearing more clothing, particularly the strapping middle guy, whose head position differs, and his straw hat is larger as well.

The rides were super fun, especially California Screamin', a huge roller coaster that goes super fast and upside-down! That's my favorite ride in California adventure. I think my favorite Disneyland ride is the Indiana Jones ride.

I was listening to my little sister and cousins. They all agree that if there were no boys in this world, they would paint the sky pink.

I feel extremely sorry for anyone who has never been to Disneyland. Especially with their best friends.

Sometimes I get very tired of Erica and Phil. Until I get to sing them to sleep. That night light really shows their good side.

I really enjoy baking things. As long as people smile when they taste it.

Very often I find myself thinking," How could it get any better than this?"

Sometimes I wonder what life would be like without Oreos. ........................Nope, I just can't picture it.
